Third-seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva won 12 of the last 13 games to defeat No. 8 seed Victoria Mboko of Canada 6-3, 6-1 for the Adelaide International title Saturday in Australia.
Andreeva overcame a 3-0 deficit in the opening set to win the battle of teenagers in just 64 minutes, earning her fourth career WTA Tour title and her first at the WTA 500 level.
Tuning up for the Australian Open, where she'll chase her first Grand Slam title, the 18-year-old Andreeva converted five of 10 break points against Mboko, 19. She won her other three matches this week in 69, 67 and 84 minutes.
Hobart International
Unseeded Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy defeated No. 3 seed Iva Jovic 6-4, 6-4 in Australia to claim her second career WTA Tour title.
Cocciaretto, whose maiden trophy came at the Ladies Open Lausanne in Switzerland in 2023, overcame early 2-1 deficits in both sets by converting four of six break chances to win in one hour and 37 minutes.
The 18-year-old Jovic, who survived three-setters in the quarterfinals and semifinals, won only 56% (23 of 41) of the points on her first serve.
