Third-seeded Iva Jovic advanced to the ASB Classic quarterfinals with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over Czech Sara Bejlek on Wednesday in Auckland, New Zealand.
Jovic overcame a 3-1 deficit in the opening set and recorded the decisive break in the ninth game of the second set, advancing to face Belgium's Sofia Costoulas. Costoulas needed only 67 minutes to finish a 6-2, 6-0 win over Spain's Kaitlin Quevedo.
No. 7 seed Xinyu Wang defeated Mexico's Renata Zarazua 7-5, 6-4 and Britain's Francesca Jones rallied for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory against Austria's Sinja Kraus. Jones and Wang will meet for a spot in the semifinals.

American stars Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula won their opening matches in different fashion in Australia.
The second-seeded Anisimova crushed Australia's Kimberly Birrell 6-1, 6-3 in 63 minutes, while the fourth-seeded Pegula needed nearly two hours to complete a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win against Russia's Anna Kalinskaya.
No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva of Russia rallied past Aussie Olivia Gadecki 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. No. 9 Linda Noskova from the Czech Republic, No. 10 Liudmila Samsonova of Russia and No. 16 Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine advanced.
Two other top seeds were shown the exit, with Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska beating No. 13 Leylah Fernandez of Canada and Russia's Aliaksandra Sasnovich upending No. 8 Clara Tauson of Denmark.
