Animals from the Indian Armys Remount and Veterinary Corps will join Republic Day festivities for the first time this year
As India celebrates its Republic Day on January 26, a unique unit is set to grab all the attention at the annual parade.
The Indian Army's animal contingent from the Remount and Veterinary Corps will join the procession this year, according to an official statement.
India will mark its 77th Republic Day with a grand parade in the capital, New Delhi.
The annual event, which also showcases its military prowess, has never before included the Army's animal contingent.
It will feature two Bactrian camels, four Zanskar ponies, four raptors, and ten Indian breed Army dogs, along with six conventional military dogs already in service, the Indian Army said.
It added that the contingent represents a blend of tradition, innovation, and self-reliance within its operational ecosystem.
The Bactrian camels, recently inducted for operations in the cold deserts of Ladakh, willleadthe column.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was thechiefguest at the parade in 2007.
